Ascot Horse Racing Tips – 18 June 2020

Horse Racing

With Ascot producing what has been a sublime midweek schedule of meetings from behind closed doors, the action continues on Thursday afternoon with the Gold Cup really taking centre stage.

On that note, for those of you out there looking to stick a midweek flutter on another fascinating day at Ascot, we have found you a couple of helpful tips that are certainly worth keeping an eye out for throughout Thursday.

Betting Tip: KING LEONIDAS win – 4/1 @ Betfair

*Odds are correct at time of writing and are subject to change without prior notice.

14:25 PM – Ascot – Race 3

For our opening Tip of the Day, we take a look at the Jersey Stakes and a line-up that is filled with three-year-olds who appear to have a bright future ahead of them.

While the likes of CELESTIN (7/1 with Bet365) might also have plenty of buzz after returning at Rea back on June 1st, talented KING LEONIDAS will be looking to build off of another glittering display at Newmarket when returning to action last week. Claiming victory over EASTERN WORLD by two and a half lengths, famed jockey Frankie Detorie has been filled with praise for KING LEONIDAS ahead of Thursday’s Class 1 meeting.

Claiming back-to-back victories since making a debut in Suffolk a smidge under nine months ago and picking up the win in the Coates & Seely Blanc de Blancs Novice Stakes, KING LEONIDAS should be relishing a step up in class at Ascot.

Betting Tip: STRADIVARIUS win – 1/2 @ Paddy Power

*Odds are correct at time of writing and are subject to change without prior notice.

15:35 PM – Ascot – Race 5

For our second Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to the iconic Gold Cup and one six-year-old who will have all eyes on him this week.

Looking to make history at Ascot on Thursday, STRADIVARIUS is hoping to become the first horse since the Hall of Fame four-time winner YEATS to claim a Gold Cup hat-trick. Also set to be ridden by Frankie Detorie in what could be a famous afternoon for Bjon Nielsen’s stable, the chestnut superstar has won back-to-back appearances in Thursday’s race and also won the Yorkshire Cup, Goodwood Cup, and Lonsdale Cup. Clearly a standout pick with the bookmakers, there is no doubt that a world-class STRADIVARIUS should be too strong for the eight-horse field in midweek.

Elsewhere, also with plenty of buzz around him heading into Thursday’s standout meeting, TECHNICIAN (11/2 with William Hill) is certainly worth a look at each way.
