Opening May with an action-packed weekend of racing from all across Australia, Friday promises to offer a string of eye-catching meetings from the likes of Wagga Wagga, Alice Springs, Geelong, and the Gold Coast.
On that note, for those of you who are looking to put on a weekend flutter, we have searched far and wide to find you a couple of noteworthy tips that are worth keeping an eye out for on Friday morning.
06:40 AM – Wagga Wagga – Race 6
For our opening Tip of the Weekend, we turn our attention to Wagga Wagga and the MTC Guineas (1600m).
Putting in what was a rampant display and winning in empathic fashion over 1400m at Nowra last week, BLUEANT certainly gained a long list of admirers. Leading from the start and romping to victory in the Maiden Plate by over two lengths, trainer Clare Cunningham really does have a talented three-year-old on her hands.
Holding a 100% place percentage and also claiming three consecutive victories in open trials at Warwick Farm, Hawkesbury, and Doomben, CUNNINGHAM should be relishing a trip to Wagga on Friday morning. While both GONE BYE and SMART SUCCESS might also find themselves priced at 4/1 with Paddy Power, we’re backing BLUEANT to make it back-to-back victories among a competitive field this week.
07:27 AM – Gold Coast – Race 9
For our second Tip of the Weekend, we make our way to the Gold Coast and the bm75 over 1400m.
Putting in what was another noteworthy display at Ipswich on what was a soft track a fortnight ago, GREAT KEPPELL was eventually just pinched at the line by MARMARIS. However, with trainer Toby Edmonds signing his praises, he has now landed five-place finish on the bounce and also secured a convincing victory in an open trial on the Gold Coast back in February.
Enjoying what has been an extended purple patch and holding a place percentage of over 86%, there is no doubt that the four-year-old should be looking to go one step further in Queensland this week.
While SEENTOOMANY (5/1 with 888sport) might have previous for enjoying his trips to the Gold Coast, we’re backing GREAT KEPPELL on Friday morning.
