With what is a standout weekend of race meetings from all across Australia, Saturday morning promises to offer a string of eye-catching races from the likes of Morphettville, Doomben, Sandown Lakeside, and Randwick-Kensington.
On that note, with the prestigious TAB Classic taking centre stage this weekend, we have searched far and wide to find you a couple of noteworthy tips that are certainly worth keeping an eye out for on Saturday morning.
07:36 AM – Morphettville – Race 8
For our opening Tip of the Day, there is certainly only one place that we can get underway.
With all eyes from across the racing world set on the TAB Classic (1200m) at Morphettville, four-year-old mare Sunlight has cemented her spot as a rightful favourite with the bookmakers. Running a close second behind Gytrash at this very course a fortnight ago, trainer Tony McEvoy once again saw his mare impress after clinching victory in an open trial over 1000m at Morphettville earlier in the month.
Holding a 50% winning percentage, Sunlight’s second-up record stands at three victories and a third, with one of those wins coming in the 2019 Newmarket Handicap. With McEvoy claiming to have found a winning formula with Sunlight, it is hard to see anyone stopping her from claiming victory at Morphettville on Saturday morning.
05:05 AM – Randwick-Kensington – Race 5
For our second Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to the BM78 (1100M) and another meeting that offers a star-studded line-up.
Despite what was a heavy track at Warwick Farm last time out, four-year-old Burning Crown managed to claim the victory across Sydney and is enjoying quite the run of form. Including another victory in an open trial at Muswellbrook over 900m last month, trainer Sue Grills has seen Burning Crown now claim the win in three of his last four starts.
It should also be noted that along with holding a win percentage of over 33%, he also holds a stellar place percentage of 80%. While both Kylease (17/5 with Coral) and Dirty Work (19/5 with Bet365) might open Saturday’s meeting amongst those more favourably placed by the bookmakers, we’re backing Burning Crown to come out on top at Randwick this weekend.
