With another hectic weekend of racing coming from across Australia, Saturday promises to offer plenty of exciting action from the likes of Alice Springs, Flemington, Ascot, and Gosford.
On that note, for those of you who are looking to put on a weekend flutter, we have searched far and wide from all the race meetings to find you a couple of noteworthy tips that are worth keeping an eye out for on Saturday morning.
5:50 AM – Flemington – Race 4
For our first Tip of the Weekend, we make our way to Flemington and the William Newton Vc Handicap (2600m) with one four-year-old who should be relishing another trip to Victoria.
Despite a tricky race in what was heavy conditions at Randwick earlier in the month, VOW AND DECLARE rightfully opens Saturday’s meeting as the favourite. Already placing at the Australian Cup in shock fashion this year, trainer Danny O’Brien also saw his gelding securing victory at Flemington in the Melbourne Cup over 3200m back in November.
Only weighing 5KG over the limit and appearing to be at an ideal weight, we’re backing VOW AND DECLARE to be too strong for the chasing pack in Melbourne this weekend. If he’s going to be competitive in a second Melbourne Cup, he should take care of these with ease.
09:53 AM – Ascot – Race 8
For our second Tip of the Weekend, we make the trip to Ascot and the Diggers Cup (1800m) in Perth.
Putting in a stunning display at this very course a fortnight ago on a good track over 1600m, MYSTERY MISS romped to victory over TOUCH OF SILVER by a length and a half and gained a long list of admirers for what was a stunning last stretch sprint.
With a win percentage of 46.2% and placing at an eye-catching 76.9%, including a third-place finish among a stacked card at Ascot last month, trainers Grant and Alana Williams have a four-year-old who is showing a similar level that she set at the end of the 2018/2019 calendar.
While RED ARMY (5/1 with William Hill) might also have a history of enjoying her outings in Perth, we’re backing a high-flying MYSTERY MISS to claim the victory on Saturday morning.
