Bet365 Review
From the tough competition on the UK market, Bet365 definitely stands out by offering it clients one of the widest, if not the widest collection of sports betting options.
This impeccable website has a crazy selection of bets and proposition bets that you will just love, at least I do!
What I really like the best about them (if I really have to pick out one thing) is that they provide excellent Live Streaming service and massive offer on all sports markets with emphasis on football and horse racing.
Their coverage of less famous football leagues and events is just stunning.
The point is, no matter what sports you are into, you will find what you need at bet365 bookmaker!
You will find exotic and proposition bet options for popular sports and those of emerging betting popularity such as volleyball, cycling, boxing and golf.
What is more, you can also search for a particular sport or discipline using the easy to use search engine once logged in, and all markets will be listed in a blink of an eye.
I sure use this feature, especially when looking for hidden gems on the market, like number of yellow cards or next goalscorer.
Visually, the site is easy on the eye and pleasant. Some people, including myself had a bit of difficulties find their way through at first, but once you get used to the site’s navigation layout, it is perfect and you will easy find your way through.
Bet365 sign up process is simple, but you will have to do KYC before any serious business with any bookmaker. No need to panic, verification is fast and necessary; for both sides.
Whether you like conventional, old school, classic sports, Esports or you are more into some newcomers to the market and the brave new world of betting, you will find what you are after.
Highly competitive odds and just great in-play betting features make Bet365 number 1 bookmaker for me.
On a plus note, I like them because they are truly fair and long lasting company that came from 1 local shop to become the best and the most innovative betting company in the UK.
Here is a quote from Denise Coates, Bet365 owner and CEO about their early days.
“We mortgaged the betting shops and put it all into online. We knew the industry required big startup costs but… we gambled everything on it. We were the ultimate gamblers if you like.”
Online gambling and sports betting operators don’t come much bigger than Bet365 – so much so that their Chief Executive and founder Denise Coates is now one of the wealthiest women in Britain according to the Sunday Times Rich List. This high-flying CEO took home a record breaking £323 million in salary according to her companies last submitted accounts, which is actually the highest of any UK chief executive – male OR female! This achievement is all the more remarkable considering the rich list is so heavily skewed towards men!
From a gamblers point of view, what I truly find the most impressive is that Denise has been able to build this remarkable empire without compromising with regard to ethics, quality or fairness. The Bet365 sportsbook has consistently ranked amongst the best in the industry, year after year, in a whole range of areas. The company has been praised for offering fantastic odds, having amazing customer support, being generous, fair and transparent with respect of their offers and promotions, as well as the rapid processing of withdrawal requests – pretty much every metric that matters to those who use a sportsbook!
It’s really satisfying and encouraging to learn that even in the gambling market, a place that is still unfairly judged by some as being shady and unethical, it is still possible to climb your way to the top through simply providing a great service and treating your customers fairly and with respect! The full story of how Bet365 came to achieve their amazing success, as well as that of Denise Coates herself, are both fascinating tales. When you have the time, take a few minutes to search for these two subjects and have yourself a read – you won’t be disappointed that you did!
Today, Bet365 has finally become so successful that most lists and directories have them occupying the coveted #1 position as the internet’s number one online sportsbook. It’s not easy to obtain a single “world’s best” rating for anything, and yet somehow Bet365 has more than I can count! They don’t rank badly for casino or poker either, but their sportsbook operation has definitely grown to become the largest division of their business today.
Search the web and you will find endless five star or 10/10 reviews, glowing testimonials, as well as news articles praising the company’s approach of being the first to try new and innovative ideas and features. Sometimes these innovations are actually created at Bet365, other times they are borrowed from the land-based bookmaking industry, but the point is that this isn’t a company who are afraid to take risks or try new things.
They were even the first online sportsbook to offer a dedicated mobile phone interface way back in the days of Java applications which ran on Symbian and similar operating systems… anybody remember those?
So, without further ado, let’s take a dive into the vital licensing and safety aspects of this clearly fantastic sportsbook… there won’t be many surprises to be found here to be honest, but I promise I will at least do my best to keep it interesting!
Licensing, Safety Record & Security
Off to a flying start with a ten out of ten, just as you would expect from any top-tier sportsbook operating within the UK. As far as licenses are concerned, the combination of the Gibraltar Gaming Commission and the United Kingdom Gambling Commission is pretty much as good as it gets – Alderney and Malta are pretty much the only other options which are on par as providers of gaming licenses, and the UKGC license is 100% non-negotiable if you want to offer any form of gambling services to customers located within the UK.
This is actually the reason why many online sportsbooks and casinos will hold two or more different licenses – if your only interest was the UK market then a UKGC license alone would be sufficient. But whilst the UK market is certainly very large – 3.95bn pounds were wagered online just on horse racing alone according to figures just released for 2020 – grabbing a large enough slice of the pie is difficult even for the largest operators, so the addition of a second license can open up hundreds of millions of extra customers for a sportsbook to provide their services to.
Obtaining a license from a jurisdiction such as Alderney, Gibraltar, The Isle of Man or Malta isn’t an easy task, however. These authorities have spent years building up their excellent reputations, and their rules and regulations are designed to ensure that those reputations are permanently protected.
How Players Benefit from a Gibraltar licensed Sportsbook
The Gibraltar license held by Bet365 requires the company to create a financial structure that separates all player balances from company funds in an arrangement that is not straightforward to circumvent. Different banking accounts are required for each of the different stores of money, and each of these accounts must be controlled by different people. This arrangement ensures that if Bet365 were to become insolvent, they would still have enough money to pay out the full value of every single one of their customer’s balances.
Strict rules regarding Know Your Customer (KYC) and Source of Income (SoI) must be enforced by the licensee, and this information is required to be regularly assessed and then examined to identify any sign of a players account being used by any person other than the named account holder, as well as watching for any indication of gambling addiction or irresponsible betting activity.
Operators are required to suspend the betting privileges of any accounts that do not meet the expectations of these KYC and SoI policies, with full access only being restored after whatever previously identified activity has been fully explained and understood. If the sportsbook feels that a player is not in full control of their actions or spending, they must not allow them to gamble.
Likewise, if a player is not able to satisfy the sportsbook regarding the source of the funds being used to place wagers, their account will be suspended until such time as additional information is provided that gives the operator sufficient confidence that no fraud is taking place. The licensing authority performs random audits on all of these policies to ensure that all of their licensees are implementing them correctly. Therefore, all sportsbooks operating under these licenses should make very sure they are keeping frequent records of the checks they are performing in accordance with these regulations – the penalties for not doing so can be severe.
Any sportsbook who wants to hold either a Gibraltar license or a UKGC license is also required to commit to a policy of treating all of their customers equally, to the extent that local laws and regulations allow. Essentially, you are not allowed to provide a worse level of service to players who are placing bets from jurisdictions that have poor protection for players who are gambling online. This is a great thing for the punters who actually live in those countries, and really highlights just how much commitment both of these licensing authorities make towards ensuring all customers of their licensees are treated fairly.
Advantages for Players of Betting With a UKGC Licensed Sportsbook
All gambling sites accepting bets from punters based within the United Kingdom have been required to obtain a license from the UKGC since 2005, but it wasn’t until 2014 that the commission was really given the powers and authority that it needed to effectively police the UK gaming market.
A point of consumption tax was also introduced at this time, which finally closed the tax loophole that had previously allowed offshore companies to accept wagers from British punters without paying a penny in tax to the UK treasury. Additionally, the commission was also granted the power to impose unlimited fines on any of their licensees that was found not to be honouring their license obligations.
These changes caused many gambling companies to leave the UK market entirely rather than make the changes required to comply with the newer, much stricter rules involved with holding a UKGC license. Whilst some of those companies have since returned, others including Vegas Partner Lounge continue to prohibit British punters from using their sites, which is a real shame.
The UKGC has been making a bit of a nuisance of itself recently though, such as forcing several additional restrictions on operators that required them to make significant changes to huge numbers of different pieces of software. The decision to remove all “fast play” and “bonus buy” options from any type of gambling game required significant work on the part of gaming software providers. Before that, they made the decision to limit auto play functionality to 100 spins, and force players to input a loss limit before the function could be used. It’s debatable how useful any of these changes has really been, and I have to guess that the UKGC aren’t truly understanding of the magnitude of the task involved in making these changes to thousands of different games. Many players have been extremely annoyed by what could, in truth, be described as wholly unnecessary interference – and it doesn’t look like they’re done yet either.
The next item on the commission’s agenda seems to be trying to get stakes for many types of bets limited to £2. This is unlikely to affect sportsbooks – that would be completely ridiculous, after all – but slots players are extremely worried about this possibility. The commission already made a similar ruling which affected the Fixed Odds Betting Terminals that are located in bookmakers’ shops here in the UK, and the result of that was the loss of thousands of jobs and the closing of hundreds of UK betting shops.
A similar restriction on stakes placed online may have disastrous effects on operators, and there is no real evidence that committing to this arbitrary limit will help to prevent or mitigate problem gambling in any way whatsoever.
Still, on the whole I think it is still fair to say that the UKGC has been a good thing for UK punters overall. Their existence and procedures ensure that players based here in Britain are some of the most well protected in the world as far as legislation and regulations are concerned. Any sportsbook holding a UKGC license automatically benefits from an increased level of respectability and trustworthiness in a way that no other gaming license can currently provide.
Depositing and Withdrawing
This is one area where I was definitely surprised by the options available at Bet365. The number of deposit and withdrawal options is extremely limited, especially when compared to sportsbooks such as 888Sport who basically take any form of payment imaginable. It would appear they have had something of a cull recently, too – I am certain I was able to use Skrill to deposit here at some point in the past, but e-wallet options now include only Paypal and PaySafeCard, which isn’t quite a true e-wallet anyway.
Perhaps the company didn’t feel that e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller are as necessary as they used to be – fast withdrawals can now be made directly back to cards and bank accounts. That said, Bet365 also haven’t implemented the new super-fast refund to card facility now offered by Visa and Mastercard as yet so if you really need your winnings in less than a day, PayPal and PaySafeCard are pretty much your only options.
It could also just be a country thing – I didn’t bother checking through all of the various options to see what options showed up if I stated I was in a different country.
The limits are very reasonable, at least – a minimum of just £5 for most payment types is nice for low rollers who just want to place a single small bet. Let’s be honest -very few of us are ever likely to encounter any sort of problem with any of the upper limits!
It is a little disappointing that Bet365 have so few options available when you have to assume that it would be really quite simple to add more, but on the whole, I believe that the choices they have made are sensible ones and will likely satisfy a very high percentage of their userbase.

Betting Markets, Pricing and Odds
As you would expect from a top-tier online sportsbook, Bet365 offers a huge variety of markets to place bets on. The bread and butter of any British bookmaker is always going to be horse racing and football though, and these two areas are particularly well served at Bet365. Taking a look at the odds of a few major contests currently offered for wagering at Bet365 as well as two other major UK sportsbooks, its notable that Bet365 has a lower odds over-round (the combined total of all possible outcomes) than both of the other books. Whilst the actual difference in prices being offered is relatively small, it’s always nice to know you are getting the best odds possible when placing a bet!
Bet365 Horse Racing
Unlike many of the high street bookmakers which have chosen to separate their horse racing sections from the rest of their sportsbook, Bet365 keeps everything arranged together neatly with a single list of all sports down the left-hand side of the page. Choose horse racing from the list and the main area of the page will then change to show the
details of the next three big races at the top of the screen, followed by a long list of upcoming races in the UK, Ireland and abroad.
The site offers a number of interesting options not commonly found elsewhere too, such as allowing you to choose your place terms on selected races. The Each Way Extra feature allows you to add or remove places for a reduced price or higher odds, which will really appeal to those who, for example, just can’t decide between two closely matched runners.
If you are from one of the generations born at a time when William Hill, Ladbrokes and Corals were the only names to consider when placing a bet on the horses, it might be worth taking a look at Bet365 – their odds are just as good if not better, and their platform has been built from the ground up for the digital age.
Bet365 Football
Bet365 built their reputation on the beautiful game, so it’s no surprise that their football offering is one of the most comprehensive of any online sportsbook on the web today. Their football betting news page is a treasure trove of useful information and a must read for anyone that enjoys placing wagers on the game.
The company also pioneered the bet builder concept, which enables you to combine the odds of several different outcomes into a combined bet. This is different to a traditional accumulator as you can choose to combine odds from any market you wish. This feature was hugely popular upon launch and was quickly copied by most of the other online sportsbooks. Other features such as the ability to edit existing in-play wagers – for example increasing the size of your stake late in a game when you are reasonably sure of a win – are obviously very friendly towards players, though bear in mind that if you do use this feature your previous bet will first be settled at the current cash-out price.
Where Bet365 really set themselves apart from the competition in regards to football is the sheer number of markets they offer odds for – it’s not just big leagues like the British Premier League, America’s Major League Soccer, and the Italian La Liga offered here. If you fancy placing a bet on Denmark, Sweden or Australia’s domestic leagues then you’ll find odds available for each of them at Bet365, as well as a bunch of leagues you’ve almost certainly never heard of. There’s even ongoing virtual soccer leagues and tournaments which throw up some really crazy numbers that will definitely never occur in the real world – though what do I know, perhaps Ghana really could win the World Cup one day!
Bet365 E-Sports Betting
Bet365 were one of the first sportsbooks to start taking bets on this still up and coming form of professional competition. Professional teams are already becoming established though, and thousands of people have shown that they are willing to attend competitions in arenas to watch people play games such as League of Legends, Call of Duty, FIFA and Overwatch, gambling on these contests is only going to become more popular in the future.
If you are a gamer and haven’t yet heard of e-sports, never mind placing bets on them, then this is likely to be something that will really interest you! The full list of games currently being offered for wagering at Bet365 is as follows:
Call of Duty Counter Strike: GO DOTA2 FIFA Halo 5 | Hearthstone Heroes of the Storm King of Glory Leagues of Legends Overwatch | UBG Rocket League Starcraft 2 Warcraft 3 World of Warcraft |
Like any other sport, many of these competitions are seasonal so you may not find them available for wagering on all year round. E-Sports are supported for in-play betting just as any other sport, and have full support within the Bet365 mobile app as well. As far as e-sports betting is concerned, Bet365 have such a head start on other sportsbooks that they are likely to remain the number one place for this kind of wagering for the foreseeable future.
Other Markets
The amount of choice at Bet365 is truly staggering, and they are constantly adding and removing markets from their inventory too. I’ll try and list all of their current sports below, but you’ll find so many random and obscure contests listed if you spend some time browsing through their site that it’s easily a possibility that I have missed one or two! The list below is still very impressive though – when you include the insane number of different leagues and sub-divisions available for many of these sports too, there is no question that Bet365 have the most comprehensive directory of betting markets of any online sportsbook.
American Football Aussie Rules Football Baseball Basketball Bowls Boxing/MMA Cricket Cycling Darts E-Sports Futsal Gaelic Sports Golf Greyhound Racing | Horse Racing Ice Hockey Lotto Formula 1 NASCAR Rally Supercars Politics Rugby League Rugby Union Snooker Soccer Specials Speedway | Table Tennis Tennis Trotting Virtual Sports Volleyball Alpine Skiing Biathlon Cross Country Ski Jumping Floorball Handball Sailing Surfing Water Polo |
The specials area includes items such as Dancing On Ice (UK) 2021, BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2021, The Grammy Awards 2021, Big Brother Brazil 2021 and the Eurovision Song Contest, so if you are looking for something truly quirky and random you are sure to find it over there!
Bet365 always have several exclusive offers available, particularly on Soccer, Horse Racing, and Greyhounds, but there are also current exclusives available for the Six Nations, NBA, NHL, Euro Basketball, and more. This section is always positioned above the list of sports on the left-hand side of the page, and whilst you won’t find any exclusive odds available here the offers which are available can often be worth more than a boost of a couple of percentage points on your odds anyway.
Mobile Apps & Platform Support
Fantastic Apple & Android Apps which work well on all classes of devices
As soon as Apple and Google permitted real money gambling apps within their online stores, Bet365 was right there with a fully developed, high quality app with support for a range of different screen sizes and all of the functionality of the full desktop site.
Perhaps this isn’t so surprising considering that Bet365 had already been offering mobile apps that users could install via “side-loading” for a couple of years prior to this, but considering how long it took many of their competitors to get basic, barely working first versions together, you once again get the sense that this is a company that is constantly keeping an eye on where their business and customers are heading – then making sure they stay in front of it.
As long as online gambling is legal in your country you should have no trouble finding apps for the Bet365 Sportsbook, Online Casino, and Poker Room with a basic search of the App Store or Google Play. I was really hoping that Bet365 would be the exception to the rule and have something available in the Windows Store as well, but sadly nothing but a single scam application using the Bet365 name is currently listed within that marketplace.
Creating a betting user interface for mobile devices is particularly tricky because of the wide range of different screen sizes used by todays smartphones and tablets. Bet365 have done a great job of bringing all of the functionality of their website over to the small screen, whilst also making sure that all of the options can be selected easily using a small touchscreen. If the software is badly designed you could end up accidentally betting your entire balance when you only intended to place a small wager, so it really is important that user interface considerations are taken into account from the ground up when creating this kind of app.
Where the Bet365 app really excels is on devices with larger screens – if you have an iPad or similar device, I actually find this method of placing bets preferable to using the regular website. It really does work extremely well, and is laid out so intuitively that making bets, using the bet builder, and even setting up complex accumulator bets were all completely simple and straightforward.
On the whole, mobile device support is another huge win for Bet365 and they really do deserve credit for creating mobile apps which work far better than many of those offered by their competitors.
Customer Support
When checking out a sportsbook’s customer support features, I always approach it from the angle of being a genuine player with an issue, and try and follow the steps that I would expect a less experienced punter to take to try and resolve the problem. That usually involves starting off by looking at the FAQ section, which is actually just labelled “Help” at Bet365. This makes a lot of sense – some of the questions you can find answers to here are definitely not ones that would be frequently asked! It’s extremely comprehensive and no doubt saves their staff many hours of unnecessary time dealing with phone calls, e-mails and live chat enquiries.
I literally couldn’t come up with a genuine question that wasn’t answered in one of the many different areas of the help pages, but decided to contact their 24/7 live chat support anyway to see how they would perform. The wait was a little on the long side – almost ten minutes – but this was at what I would call a peak time, and this is the web’s largest and most popular sportsbook, so I think they can be forgiven for this. I’m sure the wait times are sometimes shorter than this.
Both the help section and the live chat facility are available in a mind-boggling number of different languages – I’ll list them all just to emphasize exactly how crazy this is – Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, English, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak and Spanish. Are you impressed yet? Sadly, I wasn’t able to verify the quality of support in each of these languages as I only speak English, but I feel fairly sure that they aren’t just using translation software or anything like that and will have real people capable of conversing in every one of these languages available for you to talk to.
My questions regarding their welcome bonus were answered in detail and several caveats were pointed out specifically at a very early stage, which gives me great confidence in the trustworthiness of their promotions. Long lists of terms and conditions are an unavoidable part of the game in todays online betting industry, and having the most important rules and regulations pointed out to be immediately (confirmed by reading the actual terms and conditions in full myself) really gave me a great feeling about the quality of their customer support.
Firing off an e-mail with a similar question, I received a reply in just under 15 minutes, which again feels very acceptable to me. You can also send private messages to support directly from within your account if you wish, which may suit some people better than writing an actual e-mail.
Finally, the company also boasts a 24/7 dedicated freephone number for customer support, which was answered by a real person after only a single brief recorded message. The person I spoke to was extremely friendly and cheerful, which may say something about the experience of working for this company as well.
With every one of these tests resulting in an excellent result, it’s impossible to give Bet365 anything but the highest possible rating for the quality of their customer support – simply outstanding.
Bet365: The Verdict
As good as it gets in the online sportsbook industry right now – simply the best available: 5/5
Well, if you’ve read the whole review, you won’t be shocked to hear that we were very impressed with Bet365! From their truly outstanding in-play betting experience and their unrivalled number and quality of live streams, to their competition-smashing customer support and mobile applications, there really is very little to complain about at Bet365. I’ve looked hard to find more flaws with their sites, apps, and service, but if they’re there they are certainly well hidden.
Normally when companies grow as large as this, they lose some of their flexibility and end up eventually becoming an inferior version of themselves. That just doesn’t seem to be the case with Bet365 – they have gone from strength to strength as they have grown, demonstrating an unusual ability to rapidly adapt and expand – that’s probably something to do with how their chief executive came to be the richest woman in Great Britain, isn’t it!
We won’t keep going here – it’s clear by now that we love Bet365, and we think you will too. Get signed up with them and claim your £100 in free bets using our link on this page!
