Unibet Live Streaming – Watch Live Sport at Unibet TV
Unibet TV is added value that Unibet offers to their sports betting customers in form of live streaming.
Live betting is available on all of the events you would expect, and the Cash Out feature first developed by Bet365 was swiftly copied and integrated into Unibet’s own variation of this now an extremely popular method of betting. The website has constantly updating scores and statistics for all of the major sports markets, and even a large number of live streams, particularly for football and horse racing fixtures.
Overall, the in-play functionality is not quite as smooth or refined as that offered over at Bet365, but it does get the job done and the generous odds on offer could well make this a trade-off worth making. When in live betting mode, a virtual representation of the game will be shown on the screen with various odds for each of the different possible outcomes. You can switch between this view and various sets of statistics, all intended to help you determine the best in-play bets to make.
Unibet has partnered up with UTV, the Northern Irish version of the Britain-wide ITV network, to provide live streams that other gambling operators could only dream of having available on their sites. When searching for a market, look out for a “UTV” logo next to the listed live contest, as these are the events that are currently being streamed courtesy of UTV.

Unibet Bookmaker Review
*All Information is Subject to Change at Short Notice – Last Updated March 2021
Some UK punters feared that the UK online gambling market could collapse after the UK Gambling Commission was given increased powers around 2014. It is true that a huge number of operators decided to pull out of the market altogether more-or-less overnight, but now that we’ve all had a period of reflection, I think most of us would agree that the commission has done a great job of separating the riskier, more questionable operators from the tier-one, trustworthy and dependable gaming brands.
Online sportsbooks, casinos, bingo halls and poker rooms now have no choice but to play by the rules. Their software has to be regularly audited to ensure that it is free from corruption, cheating and bias. All advertising must be clear, legible and written in plain English. Few would argue these are anything but great things for players, and that makes it all the more disappointing when some companies choose to sanction British players rather than abide by those rules. Some operators choose to simply exclude British players from their promotions, whilst others decide to exit from the British market altogether.
The truth of the matter is that describing predatory bonus offers in a straightforward manner is likely to result in an overall negative cost to their brand’s image, negating the purpose of offering the bonuses in the first place! Such brands will blame the “draconian rules” and “unfair taxes” levied by the gambling commission, but don’t fall for stories like this – companies such as Unibet and their parent Kindred Group posted profits of over £56 million pounds in their last published accounts
So. let’s talk about Unibet in a little more detail – are they making those profits at the expense of customer satisfaction? Well, if you’re a cut to the chase kind of person then I can tell you in short that Unibet is a fantastic book, with very little in the way of unhappy customers. They aren’t perfect of course – I myself have had problems in the past, including an incident involving so-called “friends” continuing to gamble using my card after I’d gone to bed after a New Year’s Eve party. This is a complicated situation for any online gaming company to handle, and it was several months before I was able to use my account again. As frustrating as that whole experience was for me, I do give the company credit for keeping things locked down pending the completion of their review – the time it took was more than a little excessive, from my point of view.
So, without further ado, let’s dive straight into a more detailed look at Unibet’s licensing status, security credentials and safety record – without a doubt the first priorities to consider when deciding if you should go ahead and make a deposit with an online sportsbook!
Licensing, Safety Record & Security
Unibet has been a player in the online gambling industry since 1997, making them one of the oldest online sportsbooks still in operation today. Their main license is provided by the Gibraltar Gambling Commission (GGC), long recognized as being one of the most difficult authorities with whom to maintain a license. Whilst Gibraltar is technically an island that comes under the dependency of the United Kingdom, it operates as an independent jurisdiction. Its unique (alongside Alderney) status has made it a very popular choice of location for online gaming companies – BetVictor, 32 Red, Cassava (888), Nektan, IGT and Scientific Games are all based there. This goes a long way towards establishing Unibet’s credibility as a tier-one operator.
Main Gaming License: Gibraltar Gambling Commission (GGC) Licenses RGL 091 and RGL 092
Gaining a GGC license provides numerous tax benefits for operators, so it’s no surprise that their licenses are highly sought after. These benefits come at a steep price, however – the commission is extremely strict about enforcing the conditions of the licenses they provide. Random audits are performed frequently, in addition to scheduled checks and significant documentation requirements that are all designed to guarantee every one of their licensees can be trusted implicitly. You are extremely unlikely to come across any sort of “rogue” operation that has a genuine GGC license. If you have a genuine complaint against a license holder then waste no time contacting the commission – you can be sure they won’t put up with any kind of funny business!
Gibraltar’s Key Requirements for Licensees include:
- Ensuring the safety of player funds by proving that deposits are held in a separate bank account from the gaming company’s primary cashflow accounts. This is to ensure that if the company becomes insolvent, there is no danger of any player losing any of their money.
- To be able to consistently pass a series of tests designed to prove that the licensee’s sites provide a fair and transparent gaming experience for all customers who sign up for an account – whether they are located within the United Kingdom or not. Some sportsbooks have been known to take advantage of players from weakly regulated jurisdictions, where a player would have little to no recourse should anything go wrong without the support of a strict licensing body.
- Provide information and guidance to players who are showing signs that they may be struggling with gambling addiction, including recognizing patterns of behavior that indicate the possibility of such problems. Those players are expected to have their gambling privileges withdrawn until the licensee can be certain that the player is in full control of their spending.
There are many more requirements and responsibilities placed upon licensees, but these three main pointers alone would discourage a large number of the “shadier” operators on the web from attempting to obtain a GGC license. Aside from Unibet, some of the other brands operating with a GGC license are Boylesports, 888Sport, Mansion and Bet365. That’s a pretty prestigious list of tier-one operators, I’m sure you will agree!
Secondary Gaming License: United Kingdom Gambling Commission (UKGC) License No. 045322-R-324275-013
The UKGC has been around longer than some might think, as although it was created in 2005 it was only after the passing of the updated 2014 gambling act that the UKGC grew some real teeth and claws. This resulted in the enactment of masses of new legislation and regulations, causing many gaming brands to simply pull out of the UK market altogether.
The main reason given for this was a point-of-consumption tax, which would have forced offshore companies to pay tax on all bets received from UK punters. Whilst we did lose a handful of decent operators due to this decision, it has cleaned up the UK online gambling market significantly, so was probably a good thing overall.
Today, all sites taking bets from UK punters MUST hold a UKGC license. This includes offshore sites operating under a separate license already – a UKGC license is mandatory as well. The commission has the power to levy fines against operators who breach the terms of their license – a much needed mechanism for forcing gaming companies to take their responsibilities seriously – but we highly doubt that the £6.2 million fine handed out to William Hill for “Failure to spot problem gambling and prevent money laundering” will have made much of a dent on the company’s balance sheet. Some say that it’s about time for another overhaul of the UKGC, but, with the exception of the low upper limits on their powers to hand out fines, I would say they have plenty of enough power already.
For example, it is because of the UKGC that many completely unnecessary changes have been enforced in recent years, such as requiring all sites offering free play slots to verify the age of the user before granting access. This has led to most sites just preventing British players from trying out new slot games without depositing money first – how does this protect players? The removal of the “fast spin” option also seems like an awful idea, as does the completely arbitrary 100 spin limit on the autoplay function of most games. Operators such as Unibet are doing a great job of keeping underage gamblers out as it is, and their time would be much better spent keeping an eye out for problem gamblers and enforcing robust KYC and SOF procedures than constantly having to make changes to their software which have no real tangible value.
Other Relevant Security & Safety Information
As an online-only sportsbook, Unibet is not exposed to the same issues currently affecting high street bookmakers, many of which have had millions wiped off their balance sheets and company values over the past 12 months. The company moved on from its original primary target market of Scandinavia only when it had established a firm and secure presence, and is now a major player in the UK and US Legal online sportsbook markets as well.
Unibet is a publicly traded company, currently listed on the Stockholm NASDAQ, and now has more than 700 employees located in offices all across the globe. This is undoubtedly one of the safest sportsbooks to gamble with, and you can always feel confident that you will be paid your winnings in a fast and reliable manner. I’d even go as far as to say they could well represent an interesting investment opportunity!
Banking: Depositing and Withdrawing
Unibet’s deposit and withdrawal options vary depending on which version of the site you are viewing, but we’ll be concentrating on the UK payment methods here. Just in case you are interested though, the site accepts US Dollars, Euros, Sterling, Indian Rupees, Russian Rubles, Canadian Dollars, Polish Zloty and Hungarian Forints, which gives a solid indication of the various different jurisdictions that Unibet now operates in.
All deposit methods at Unibet with the exception of a bank transfer are instant, with no fees to pay. If you use an e-wallet method such as Skrill, Neteller or Paypal, you can expect to receive your winnings in just a few minutes on most occasions. Withdrawal requests made to cards such as Visa or Mastercard will be processed by Unibet in a similar amount of time, however, the time it takes for you to receive the money in your account will depend on your card issuer.
See the table below for full details on Unibet’s supported payment methods for UK customers:
|Visa||£0||£5 – £10K||Yes||Yes||Instant|

Variety of Betting Markets, Pricing and Odds
Unibet’s own site tells an interesting story of how the book came to be, beginning with founder Anders Strom’s ambition to share his sporting expertise and help other players make more informed bets. Anders states “We believe this is as important today as it was in the beginning. That’s why Unibet continues to be experts in understanding what players really need to make bets that enhance their passion for the game”.
Strong and positive words indeed, but does the company actually still reflect those values today? Well, they certainly promote one of the broadest sports betting offers you will find anywhere – plenty of niche sports and fixtures are available for placing wagers on. The company even still boasts one of the most comprehensive sports betting news and tips sections you’ll find on the web, full of solid tips whether you choose to gamble with Unibet or not!
Whilst Unibet has fewer customers than some of the other online bookmakers, that doesn’t seem to affect the pricing they are able to offer – whilst writing this review I was able to consistently find some of the best odds on a number of major fixtures offered on Unibet’s pages.
They also offer an incredibly wide range of sports – just like Anders Strom promised – and this could be said to be one of their most important unique selling points today. Here is the full list of the sports currently available for placing wagers on at Unibet’s website just now – and with several different markets available for many of them, the amount of choice is truly impressive! Of particular note are their Football (soccer) and horse racing sections, which must surely rank amongst the most comprehensive available at any UK Sportsbook.
|American Football |
Darts Esports Football
TV & Novelty
Fans of sports such as American Football, NBA Basketball and MLB Baseball based within the UK will particularly appreciate the ability to place bets on those sports, and at prices that are every bit as competitive as the major US bookmakers! A number of the winter sports listed here are rarely found outside of Unibet’s original home of Scandinavia, but you can still find them offered for betting on by UK punters, should you wish.
Again, the prices offered here at Unibet are at the very least comparable with all of the other UK-based sportsbooks, but if you hit the site at the right time you might well find their odds can actually be even better! They seem to release their initial pricing earlier than many other books, presumably to help feel out each market’s early direction, This early data allows them to more accurately choose how to price the various outcomes when larger numbers of bets begin to be placed.
Finally, it wouldn’t be right to talk about Unibet and odds without mentioning their exclusive boosted odds. These exclusive deals often pop up on the most popular contests and offer those willing to take a chance on an early bet the opportunity to take advantage of much better prices than will be available after large numbers of bets have been placed. Combine this with their statistics data, hot tips, and detailed betting guides, and you really do have everything you could ask for in terms of having a fantastic chance of making a winning bet.
Bonuses & Promotions
Reasonably generous, but few other books offer much larger bonuses of this type.
Okay, pay attention folks – this is where things start to get complicated. Sportsbook bonuses haven’t yet reached the level of insanity that online casino bonuses have (and I for one pray they never will) but you still need to be really careful to ensure you understand all of the attached terms and conditions before choosing to take any kind of online sports bonus.
Unibet’s offer gives a free bet of up to £40, mirroring the size of your own initial first wager. Your bet needs to have odds of 2/5 (1.40) or greater, and if it’s a multiple-leg bet all legs must meet that same requirement. Bets on horse racing, greyhound racing, trotting and virtual sports do not qualify for the money-back bonus, which seems a little strange – horse racing and virtuals, in particular, are usually very popular options for this kind of bonus offer.
If you receive the maximum of £40 in bonus funds, you can use these to make a variety of smaller bets if you choose, but the total amount must be wagered 3x before the funds are eligible for withdrawal. For example, if you place an initial losing bet of £30 and receive £30 in bonus funds, you will then need to make sports bets to the value of £90 in order to meet the bonus conditions. Again, only bets placed at odds of 2/5 (1.40) will count towards the bonus wagering requirement, although you are free to bet on other markets with lower odds if you wish whilst working to clear the outstanding wagering requirement.
Bets on Horse Racing, Greyhound Racing and Trotting DO count towards bonus wagering requirements making it even stranger that you won’t receive the bonus if you choose to bet on those sports with your own deposited funds. You can also use the bonus funds to bet on virtual sports too, but the wagering requirement is increased to 4x if you choose to do this, rather than the 3x imposed for all other markets.
You can also take your sportsbook bonus money over to the Unibet casino, live casino, bingo or games sections if you wish, but the wagering requirement there is a whopping 35x, so be prepared for a long slog! If you enjoy video poker or table games, you’ll be in for even less of a good time – these games have a contribution percentage of just 10%, effectively making the wagering requirement on these games 350x. It’s probably a good idea to stay away from those games when playing with bonus funds!
Unibet gives all new sportsbook customers a £10 free chip for use in their casino as well, but you cannot claim this until you have finished playing, losing, or wagering and completing your sportsbook bonus first. The £10 free casino bonus has a wagering requirement of 35x, and trying to use those funds in the sportsbook will result in a 999x wagering requirement, effectively prohibiting you from using the funds in that way.
There are some excluded games whilst playing with a bonus too, which are:
● 1429 Uncharted Seas ● Flowers ● Multiplayer Mayhem ● Blood Suckers 1 ● Blood Suckers 2 ● Castle Builder 1 ● Castle Builder 2 ● Dead or Alive ● Devil’s Delight ● Jack Hammer ● Jack Hammer 2 ● Jackpot 6,000 ● Keno ● Secrets of Christmas ● Secret of the Stones ● The Wish Master ● Tower Quest ● Thunderstruck 1 ● Thunderstruck 2 ● Piggy Riches ● Piggy Riches Megaways
Those who are fans of slots will likely notice immediately that these are either extremely high variance slots, games with an abnormally low house edge, or those which allow you to store up features and the like for later use – a common advantage play tactic in times gone by.
Unibet has taken full advantage of the recent changes in the app store landscape!
It wasn’t so long ago that gambling apps were not permitted in either the Apple App Store or the Android Play Store. This forced sportsbooks and online casinos to develop apps that had to be sideloaded onto devices, severely limiting their appeal. This was especially true amongst iPhone users, who would previously have required a jailbroken handset in order to use specialist gambling apps.
Thankfully, the two major mobile markets, as well as the Windows Store, have all taken a much smarter approach in recent years by restricting installations of gambling apps to jurisdictions where such activities are permitted in law.
Unibet has a full suite of mobile apps available for download including a Sportsbook app, an Online Casino app, and a Poker app, and these are fully functional on both of the major mobile device platforms.
Where things aren’t so great is in the Windows support – sure, you can easily head on over to the website on your laptop or desktop and arguably receive the best experience possible, but a growing number of users are strongly attracted to the concept of using individual apps for all of the different things they do. Unibet currently has some sort of game posted in the windows store, indicating that the platform is definitely on their radar for the future. As things currently stand though, there are no downloadable Unibet applications currently available on the Windows platform, bringing down what would have otherwise been a perfect score.
Unibet: The Verdict
An excellent sportsbook, who will surely reach the upper echelons of a perfect score of 5/5
Those who choose to bet with Unibet can always be sure that their funds are safe after making a deposit. There’s no doubt that in the extremely unlikely event this book was to go under, all player deposits are strictly ringfenced and will be returned without issue.
Their website is top-notch and modern, and the addition of the UTV streaming service I would imagine sees many gamblers who don’t even usually bet with Unibet keeping the site open in an extra window just to take advantage of this great feature.
We do have a couple of worries, however – most notably, there are persistent rumors of players losing their accounts for “winning too much”. A good sportsbook should never fear this – it’s up to the bookmakers to set the odds correctly such that they make a profit regardless of the outcome of any individual contest. If Unibet is failing to do this, that’s a problem with their business and one that they urgently need to fix. If they are just being greedy and would simply prefer the big winners to go play somewhere else… well that’s going to be a bad decision in the long run, for sure.
Unibet is not the only sportsbook guilty of this kind of behavior though, let’s be clear about that – you could probably find stories about every major sportsbook banning players with hugely positive lifetime balances if you looked hard enough, so it seems unfair to single them out too much for this behavior – however distasteful we find it to be.
Secondly, with regards to their new player bonus offer, there are plenty of sites offering this same type of “receive a free bet if your first wager loses” type deals that don’t enforce any kind of wagering requirements on any winnings gained from Unibet free bet. That is a “true” second chance, whereas Unibet seems to be doing their best to ensure only a handful of players will be able to cash out any winnings from this offer. It would be nice for Unibet to consider not being so greedy here, as they have so much going for them in so many other areas!
All things considered; we think Unibet are truly deserving of an excellent rating of 5/5
