Really breaking the bank this summer and looking to lay down an early marker with their new-look squad on Monday night, Chelsea will make the trip to an empty Amex when they face Brighton.

While the former champions might have endured a difficult summer that saw Arsenal come from behind and lift the FA Cup title at Wembley last month, the West London outfit managed to clinch a top-four finish last season and the mood in their camp appears to be at a real high.

On the flip side, managing to extend on their Premier League status this summer and avoiding the drop, Brighton enjoyed a three-match unbeaten run at the back end of the extended 2019/2020 campaign and signed off the year with a 2-1 win away at Burnley.

You might be interested to know, along with the two sides playing out a 1-1 draw when they faced off in their final pre-season contest last weekend, Chelsea and Brighton played out an identical scoreline when they faced off on top-flight duties back in January.

Another shock 1-1 draw on Monday night at the Amex can be found priced at 15/2 with Bet365.

Brighton’s South Coast issues

While Brighton might have managed to snatch an injury-time equalizer against Chelsea in their final pre-season showdown last weekend, Graham Potter has been vocal about his side’s issues on home soil continuing on from last season.

Last seen on the South Coast on Premier League duties playing out a 0-0 draw against Newcastle back in July, Graham Potter’s men failed to win any of their last four top-tier contests at the Amex.

Even more worrying for the one-time Swansea boss, along with continuing to show some glaring issues in front of goal on the South Coast, they managed to land just a single home victory since opening 2020.

You might be interested to know, along with their pre-season stalemates against the Blues and newly-promoted West Brom earlier this month, Bright have failed to find the net from open play in each of their last four straight appearances on home soil.

Monday’s hosts are currently priced at 6/4 with Paddy Power to draw another blank on the South Coast in their season opener.

Werner to steal the show?

Managing to secure themselves another top-four finish in Frank Lampard’s debut season in the dugout at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have really splashed the cash this summer and some feel a potential shock title charge could be on the cards this time around.

Already bringing in the likes of Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech, many around West London are hugely excited by the arrival of German international Timo Werner.

Expected to lead the line and seen to be Lampard’s number one choice up top, the former RB Leipzig striker once again found the net against Spain while on international duties last week and has already bagged his first goal for the Blues.

Bagging Chelsea’s only strike in their 1-1 draw at the Amex in a friendly contest earlier in the month, you might be interested to know that Werner can be found priced at 1/1 with William Hill to open his Premier League account on Monday night.

Elsewhere, despite making a £50 million move from Leicester this summer, Chilwell will miss out on Chelsea’s South Coast opener as he is still dealing with an ankle issue.
