With a stacked weekend of British horse racing on the cards, the action opens up on Friday afternoon as we’re offered a string of noteworthy meetings from the likes of York, Wolverhampton, Salisbury and Newton Abbot.
On that note, for those of you looking to open the weekend with a flutter, we have searched far and wide to find you a couple of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
13:45 PM – York – Race 1
For our opening Tip of the Day, we take a look at the first race at York on Friday afternoon and the Class 2 Sky Bet Handicap.
Lining up among a favourable field this week, there is no doubt that many will be excited to see ZABEEL CHAMPION back in action. While the three-year-old talent might have finished just a nose behind JUNKANOO in the Unibet You’re On Handicap at Goodwood on July 30th, trainer Mark Johnston has seen his colt continue to shine since making a return from racing’s enforced break.
Really seen as a budding group racer and laying down a marker when claiming back-to-back victories at Newmarket, including picking up the win in the Class 2 Heritage Handicap on July 10th, ZABEEL CHAMPION has won three of his six starts since making a debut at Bath back in September.
17:25 PM – Newton Abbot – Race 4
For our second Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to Newton Abbot and the Old Gold Racing Brightens Everyone’s Day Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.
One of just two Class 3 contests to take place at Friday’s track, PARODY should be looking to once again upset the odds and the six-year-old will be glad to make a return to Devon this week. Despite eventually finishing middle of the pack last time out on August 5th, he has previously claimed back-to-back victories at Newton Abbot and is seen as somewhat as a track specialist.
While FRANCE DE REVE (9/4 with Paddy Power) might open up Friday’s meeting as the top pick, PARODY has really formed an eye-catching partnership with jockey Harry Cobden and it is well worth keeping an eye out for him this week.
Opt-in, place a bet on Selected races and if your horse finishes 2nd to the starting price favourite, you will get your stake refund up to £20.
