With another action-packed schedule of horse racing action from up and down Britain in midweek, Thursday afternoon offers us a string of noteworthy meetings from the likes of Southwell, Goodwood and Musselburgh.
On that note, for those of you looking to stick on a midweek flutter, we have searched far and wide to find you a couple of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for throughout Thursday.
14:45 PM – Goodwood – Race 4
For our opening Tip of the Day, we take a look at another stacked afternoon at Goodwood and the Group 3 John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes.
While ENGLISH KING (6/4 with Paddy Power) might open Thursday’s meeting as a standout pick with the bookmakers, it is certainly worth keeping a real eye out for the red-hot AL AASY. Really continuing to shine since making a return from racing’s enforced break, there really is a real buzz around the talented three-year-old. Last seen at Newmarket on July 11th when putting on another clinic in the Class 1 Bahrain Trophy Stakes, he has now landed back-to-back victories and has received a string of praise from trainer William Haggas.
Glad to see jockey Jim Crowley once again take the saddle on Thursday after their performance together at Newmarket earlier in the month, don’t be surprised to see AL AASY upset the odds in midweek.
18:30 PM – Musselburgh – Race 4
For our second Tip of the Day, we turn our attention to an exciting evening at Musselburgh and what should be the standout meeting in Scotland on Thursday.
With all eyes turning to the Class 3 scottishracingacademy.org Handicap, there is no doubt that GOWANBUSTER will be looking to build off of what is a real purple patch. Last seen this very track and becoming somewhat of a specialist at Musselburgh, the five-year-old stormed to victory in the Join Racing TV Now Handicap on July 10th. Claiming that win over SOUND OF IONA by almost three lengths, GOWANBUSTER has secured back-to-back victories and rightfully opens the midweek meeting as a top pick with the bookmakers.
With jockey Paul Mulrennan taking the saddle for the seventh consecutive start on Thursday, it is hard to see anything other than him making it three wins on the bounce.
