Glasgow Rangers football club name was inspired by an English rugby club. It is not clear up to date which one, but is known that the name comes from English rugby football annual book that the founders of Rangers, Moses and Peter McNeil, William McBeath and Peter Campbell have seen during 1872 when the club was founded.
Rangers supporters nicknamed themselves Teddy Bears (and Gers as it rhymes with Bears and is taken from the name itself (G)lasgow Rang(ers), Bluenoses and The People.
One of the interesting facts about Rangers FC is that many people think their full name is Glasgow Rangers FC but it is not – official name is only Rangers FC. Rangers have partnership with 32Red.
