Leicester City vs Chelsea Betting Preview | 1 Feb 2020

Looking to put their midweek EFL Cup heartbreak behind them and simply widen their buffer in the top-four, Leicester will welcome Chelsea to the King Power on Saturday lunchtime.

Watching relegation scrappers Aston Villa grab a 92nd-minute winner and book their spot at Wembley on Tuesday night, the Foxes have begun to show some signs of a struggle since opening the New Year.

On the flip side, while Frank Lampard’s youthful squad might still sit in pole position to clinch another Champions League campaign this year, Chelsea have won just one of their last four Premier League appearances.

Including throwing away the lead twice at Stamford Bridge against London rivals Arsenal last weekend, the former champions also watched Newcastle snatch a 1-0 win at St. James’ Park a fortnight ago.

You might be interested to know, along with the two sides playing out a 1-1 draw when they faced off in West London earlier in the season, Leicester and Chelsea have played out back-to-back Premier League draws. A similar outcome can be found priced at 5/2 with William Hill for this weekend.

Leicester’s Midlands heartbreak

While Leicester may have made the trip to Villa Park seen to be a landslide favourite with the bookmakers to secure a first Cup final in over two decades, the Foxes eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat on the road and have continued on what is becoming an extended rut.

Despite appearing to bounce back from their sluggish start to 2020 with a thumping 4-1 win over bottom-three scrappers West Ham last week, Head Coach Brendan Rodgers has seen his side win just three of their last eight Premier League appearances.

Including being hit with back-to-back defeats against Burnley and Southampton earlier in the month, many around the King Power have been concerned by some signs of fatigue setting in the Foxes’ camp.

However, still holding a remarkable 14-point buffer from losing their top-four status, there is no doubt that the former Celtic boss will be growing more pleased by Kelechi Iheanacho’s extended purple patch.

While he may have grabbed what turned out to be a consolation strike at Villa Park, the one-time Manchester City striker has scored in back-to-back matchups and will likely partner a returning Jamie Vardy this weekend.

The 23-year-old can be found priced at 11/8 with Coral to extend on that tally this weekend.

Chelsea’s rollercoaster continues

While a heavily-altered Chelsea side may have managed to book their spot in the fifth round of this year’s FA Cup thanks to a 2-1 win over Championship outfit Hull City last weekend, the Blues find themselves in an almost identical position to Saturday’s hosts.

Despite still being sat in pole position to land a top-four finish this season, Frank Lampard’s men threw away a pair of leads against a 10-man Arsenal last time out and have won just one of their last four Premier League appearances.

Also dropping points against the likes of Brighton and a 1-0 defeat away at Newcastle on that run, the former champions have a growing reputation for their inconsistencies since appointing the former England midfielder.

Although Chelsea may have also recorded just a pair of top-flight victories away from Stamford Bridge since the 2nd of November, there is no doubt that Saturday’s traveling support will take some solace from their most recent trips to Leicestershire.

Including picking up a 2-1 win at the King Power in last year’s FA Cup, the Blues are unbeaten in their last five trips to Leicester, winning four of those matchups. You might be interested to know that Lampard’s side can be found priced at 31/20 with Ladbrokes to make a return to winning ways and come out on top this weekend.
