With a spot in the quarter-final of this year’s EFL Cup up for grabs on Wednesday night, Leicester will welcome Arsenal to the King Power for an all-Premier League showdown in midweek.

Although Leicester might have thrown away a top-four finish after a worrying return from football’s enforced break back in June, the Foxes managed to pick up a 4-2 win against Burnley on Sunday and have opened the new campaign with back-to-back victories.

On the flip side, while Arsenal might have managed to grab what many felt was a flattering 2-1 win against West Ham in North London over the weekend, the Gunners could be concerned by what is a worrying record against Leicester while on their travels.

Including a 2-0 defeat the last time they made the trip to the King Power last year, Arsenal have lost each of their last three straight trips to Leicestershire by an aggregate score of 8-1.

The free-scoring Foxes

Although Leicester might have come under real scrutiny for the way that they collapsed after returning from football’s enforced break, Brendan Rodgers certainly got the response he was looking for this time around.

With last year’s Premier League Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy already opening his account with a brace away at top-flight returners West Brom in their 3-0 win on the opening weekend, the one-time Liverpool boss has been vocal about his side’s recent displays in front of goal.

Managing to open the New Year with back-to-back victories after coming past Burnley thanks to a dramatic 4-2 win on home soil over the weekend, the Foxes could be looking to lay down a real marker when they host the Gunners in midweek.

With a returning James Maddison set to be handed a first start of the season after recovering from a long-term injury, you might be interested to know that Leicester have now landed at least a pair of goals in each of their last three home meetings against Wednesday’s guests.

Rodgers’ side can be found priced at 6/4 with Coral to once again bag over 1.5 goals at the King Power this week.

Lacazette to lead the charge?

Although they might have struggled to find their best form against what was a rugged West Ham on Saturday, Mikel Arteta’s side have managed to open the new campaign with back-to-back victories and the mood in North London appears to be at a real high.

Already lifting both the Community Shield and the FA Cup at Wembley last month, it could be well worth keeping an eye out for Alexandre Lacazette in midweek.

While skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might be stealing most of the headlines at the Emirates after signing a new three-year-deal, the 29-year-old once again found the net against the Hammers on Saturday and has opened the New Year with back-to-back Premier League goals.

In fact, Lacazette scored his 50th goal for Arsenal in all competitions over the weekend, becoming the fourth Frenchman to reach this milestone for the club after Thierry Henry (228), Robert Pires (84) & Olivier Giroud (105).

You might be interested to know that the former Lyon marksman can be found priced at 7/5 with William Hill to extend on his purple patch at the King Power on Wednesday night.
