Two sides who will already be seeking an early-season boost in the capital, West Ham will welcome Champions League hopefuls Wolves to an empty London Stadium on Sunday night.

Eventually hit with a 3-1 defeat at home against a returning Manchester City on Monday night, the Oranges also came crashing out of the EFL Cup in what was a shocking 1-0 defeat against Championship outfit Stoke.

On the flip side, while the Hammers might have managed to extend on their own Cup adventure thanks to a 5-1 drumming against Hull earlier in the week, West Ham have been hit with back-to-back Premier League defeats and many feel they could be at the heart of another relegation scrap this season.

In for what should be another tough test on home soil this weekend, the East London side also hold what is a very worrying record against Sunday’s guests.

Including back-to-back 2-0 defeats at the hands of Wolves last season, the Hammers have lost each of their last four straight meetings against the Oranges and a similar outcome can be found priced at 21/20 with Ladbrokes.

Michail Antonio – West Ham’s MVP

While West Ham might have managed to make a string of improvements away at the Emirates last weekend, it could not stop David Moyes’ men slumping to yet another Premier League defeat.

Left heartbroken to have watched Arsenal snatch a late 2-1 win in North London, the Hammers have opened the New Year with back-to-back defeats and there really is a gloomy atmosphere in their camp.

With a string of off-field issues and still the only top-flight side yet to bring in a single new arrival this summer, it is no surprise that Moyes will be calling on Michail Antonio to lead their charge on Sunday night.

Despite still dealing with some rather glaring issues defensively, the former Nottingham Forest ace has enjoyed a real summer purple patch and once again got himself on the scoresheet last time out.

Lifting July’s Player of the Month award after his stunning return from football’s enforced break, no player has scored more goals in the competition than Antonio following on from the restart.

Wolves seeking a response

Although Wolves might have really made a string of improvements in the second-half against Manchester City on Monday night, the Oranges slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Molineux and Nuno Espírito Santo will be demanding an immediate response.

Now suffering back-to-back defeat across all formats and some in their camp still reeling from their Europa League heartbreak out in Germany last month, Sunday’s guests will be calling on attacking talisman Raul Jimenez to lead their charge in East London.

Bagging what turned out to be a consolation strike against the Sky Blues earlier in the week, the Mexican marksman enjoyed a record-breaking campaign for Wolves last season and has attracted interest from across Europe.

Already opening his account this season, Jimenez will also be boosted by what is an eye-catching record against the Hammers.

Including finding the net when Wolves landed a 2-0 win at the London Stadium back in June, the 29-year-old has bagged three strikes in as many appearances against West Ham.

You might be interested to know, Jimenez is priced at 6/4 with Coral to extend on his tally in the capital this weekend.
